It's My Life is a personal life-story app created and maintained by Vernon Anderson ("I," "me," or "my"). This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email me at support@my-life-story.life. By creating an account and using It's My Life ("the app"), you agree to this policy.
What I collect
Your account. When you create an account, I hold your name and email address, and a password (stored by Google Firebase as a secure hash — I never see or store your actual password).
What you create. Everything you add into the app — your written memories, photos, dates, family tree, music you upload, and any links you add — is stored so the app can show it back to you and to the people you choose to share it with.
Voice recordings. When you use the microphone to speak a title or a story, the app sends that audio recording to Google's AI service to convert your speech into written words. The words come back to you; see "The AI features" below.
Gift purchases. When you buy a gift, I keep the order details Lemon Squeezy sends me (your name, email address and order number), the gift codes, and what you type on the cards (the name, message and "From" line), so you can come back and print your cards again. When someone opens a gift, I record which account opened it.
Your agreement to the Terms. When you create an account, the date you agreed to the Terms of Service, and which version of them, is kept with your account.
Basic technical information. Like almost any website or app, the systems that run It's My Life may record standard technical details such as your device or browser type, to keep the service working and secure.
How your information is used
Information you provide is used to create and manage your account, to store and display the memories and photos you create, to let you share your story with family through private links, and to keep the service secure and working.
I do not sell your information. I do not show ads.
The AI features
It's My Life uses Google's AI service (through Google Firebase) for two things, each of which runs only when you choose to use it:
- Voice to text. When you speak a title or story into the microphone, your audio recording is sent to Google's AI to transcribe it into written words, which are handed back to you.
- The writing helper. When you tap AI Craft, the text you choose to submit is sent to Google's AI to suggest cleaner grammar and punctuation. It works only from what you actually wrote — it does not invent facts — and every suggestion is yours to accept or undo.
Nothing you write or say is used to train any AI model.
Where your information lives
The app runs on Google Firebase, which handles sign-in, the database that holds your memories, and the storage that holds your photos and music. The AI features use Google's AI service through Firebase. Information travels over a secure (HTTPS) connection, and Google encrypts stored data on its servers.
Sharing, and your control over it
Your story is private by default. Nothing is shared unless you create a share link and send it to someone. A share link lets whoever holds it view the memories, slideshow, and family tree you've made visible — but anything you mark private is never shown to them. It is read/view only. You can stop sharing at any time by revoking the link in the settings page.
Delete. You can permanently delete your account and everything in it — memories, photos, family tree, and music — from the Settings screen, at any time. This removes your login as well as your data. Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. It also cancels your paid subscription.
How long I keep it
Your information is kept for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account in the settings page. Unpaid accounts will be removed automatically after 24 hours. When a paid or gift year ends without being renewed, the account and everything in it is deleted 30 days after the end date. When you delete your account, your memories, photos, and files are removed and cannot be retrieved. When you delete your data, copies may remain in our backups for up to 30 days before they are permanently removed.
Payments
Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the seller of record and processes payment details on my behalf. I do not receive or store your full card number. Lemon Squeezy handles that information under its own privacy policy.
Children
It's My Life is intended only for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and I do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account. If you add content about other people — including photos or stories about your own children or family members — you are responsible for having the right to do so.
Others who help run the app
I use a small number of trusted services, each handling only what's needed to run and maintain It's My Life: Google Firebase (sign-in, database, file storage, and the AI features) and Lemon Squeezy (payments). I will only disclose information that I am legally required to.
To protect the app from abuse, It's My Life also uses Google reCAPTCHA, which runs quietly in the background. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to it.
Changes to this policy
If I make meaningful changes, I'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated policy.
